Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to join Arsenal this summer, according to reports.

The Gunners have reportedly been monitoring the midfielder in the last few weeks and it seems the Armenia midfielder has moved a step closer to joining Arsenal.

Chelsea were reportedly prepared to rival Arsenal for his signature with some reports claiming the West London side who had a €60m bid rejected last summer would return with a bigger offer this time around.

But according to Russia news outlet Sportfackt via the Daily Express, the midfielder is likely to move to the Emirates not Stamford Bridge. The report claims Arsenal have held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives.

The player is represented by super agent Mino Raiola and it is believed that Raiola and Arsenal are already in the process of thrashing out a deal for the midfielder while the Gunners are in negotiations with Dortmund to sort out a transfer fee.

Mkhitaryan has just one year left in his deal at BVB and has stalled on signing a new deal at the club, this has made BVB open to the idea of selling him and the German side are hoping to get as much as £24m for the midfielder.

The player is said to be hunting for a house in London as he prepares for his switch and would move to the capital city after the game between Dortmund and Bayern Munich this weekend.

Mkhitaryan was one of the best midfielders in Europe this season and should he complete a move to Arsenal this season, it will represent a statement of intent from Wenger ahead of next season.
