Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, according to Football Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli via the Metro.
The football journalist revealed via his twitter handle that Arsenal are in talks with Leicester City over signing Mahrez but there appears to be a potential snag in the deal.
Arsenal are said to be seriously weighing up the possibility of signing the current PFA player of the year as Wenger tries to strengthen the squad and the club have apparently been discussing with Leicester City over signing the midfielder.
However, Wenger has been dealt a big blow as Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has asked the club to include Theo Walcott in a player plus cash deal if we are to have any chance of signing Mahrez but it is believed that 27 year old Walcott has turned down the chance to move to the King Power Stadium.
Walcott was poor through out the just concluded season and Wenger is reportedly open to the idea of signing an upgrade which would apparently push Walcott out of the team but the 27 year old is determined to stay and fight for his future at Arsenal, hence turning down a move to the Premier League champions.
Walcott is also one of the highest paid players in Arsenal meaning it would be a bit difficult shifting the winger away from the club, hence it will be better if the club can negotiate a straight cash deal with Leicester City over signing the Algerian international.
