Arsenal have been told to pay as much as £7m for Bolton centre-back Rob Holding, according to HITC sports.
Arsenal are said to be seriously interested in signing Rob Holding, 20, from Bolton as Wenger plans to lure some of the best British talents to the Emirates this summer.
Holding was a subject of £750,000 bid from the Gunners which was swiftly rejected by Bolton and the club chairman Dean Holdsworth claimed afterwards that they are under no pressure to sell the centre-back following their relegation to league one.
But Arsenal still hold a concrete interest in the defender and are reportedly prepared to return with an improved offer this transfer window. Bolton have now told the club it would require at least £7m to bring the defender to North London.
Bolton’s valuation is almost 10 times Arsenal’s initial bid and it is believed Wenger is only prepared to raise his bid to about £2m to secure the defender’s services.
Holding has one year left in his contract and for a player not yet tested in the Premier League, the £7m price tag is deemed to be on a high side.
Tottenham are also interested in the 20-year-old but Mauricio’s Pochettino’s men have been informed that the player would only discuss with Arsenal for now.
Holding was one of the few impressive players in what was a disappointing campaign for Bolton and was rewarded with the club’s players player of the year award. His performances is said to have impressed Wenger and the French tactician now sees him as one of the brightest prospect in English football.
