Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in upgrading his strike force this summer transfer window. Current first choice striker Olivier Giroud has come under severe criticism for his inconsistency and despite Wenger giving the French man his backing publicly, it is believed that the manager is trying to sign an upgrade to Giroud.
According to L’Equipe via the Metro, Wenger is looking to sign a big name striker this summer and has drawn up a short list of Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata and Jamie Vardy. Wenger is determined to get one of the above named striker to replace Giroud in the starting xi next season.
Higuain has been in superb form throughout the season scoring 38 goals for Napoli in all competitions and leading them to second place in the Serie A table and a spot in the Champions League group stage.
Morata is a familiar name in the Gunner’s rumour mill as the player is being constantly linked with a move to the Emirates. Wenger is said to have prepared a mouthwatering financial package for the young man should he seal a move to the Emirates.
Vardy is also coming from an impressive season with Leicester City scoring 24 goals for the Foxes in the Premier League as he helped them clinch the first league title in their history.
Arsenal recently completed the signing of Granit Xhaka and Wenger seems not to be resting on his laurels as he attempts to strengthen the team considerably. A move which will definitely please the club’s faithful.
