Arsenal and French international striker Olivier Giroud has revealed Arsenal are close to sealing a deal for Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.
Vardy,29, found the back of the net 24 times for the Foxes last season, he guided them in winning their first Premier League title under boss Claudio Ranieri.
Fresh Reports claims Arsenal have triggered Vardy’s £20m release clause and Ranieri admitting he could lose Vardy to Arsenal.
Giroud is currently with his national team in preparation for the Euro’s 2016 which starts this week.
The French Striker revealed after scoring twice in France 3-0 win over Scotland he was confident that Vardy would become his teammate very soon.
“I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it’s very good news for us. I think we can be complimentary and that’s all I can say,” he told Sky Sports News. “He’s a fantastic player, so it’s good news for us.
“As I said in the past I am happy with competition. We have always had fantastic strikers at Arsenal and I want the best for this club. Hopefully he is going to help us win this title.
“The boss wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester.”
