Arsenal and AS Roma have fixed a meeting for next week where they will discuss the future of Wojciech Szczesny. The Poland international has enjoyed his loan spell at Rome this season and is keen to stay at the Italian club.
Roma are also keen on keeping the goalkeeper beyond the current campaign and the Galliarossi’s manager Luciano Spalletti is said to have built a special relationship with the goalkeeper and is keen to have him in his plans for next season.
According to respected Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via the Daily Star, the two clubs will discuss another loan spell for Szczesny when they meet next week.
Szczesny has never hidden his desire to remain at the Italian capital and the Poland international will be excited things are going on smoothly.
Arsenal will also attempt to get Roma to pay majority of the player’s £45,000 a week salary this time around.
Szczesny moved to Rome last summer following the arrival of Petr Cech and made 42 appearances for Roma in all competition. It is believed that Italians could have been able to sign the goalie permanently this summer but opted for a loan deal as Arsenal’s valuation was a bit high for them. Roma’s sporting director Walter Salbatini confirmed both clubs will hold talks regarding a new loan move, he said:
“We will discuss the renewal of the loan, not the purchase.”
Arsenal could be forced to sign a goalkeeper this summer as second choice David Ospina is also actively seeking for a move away from the club.
