Arsenal goalie Wojciech Szczesny has revealed he is not worried about his future amid reports linking him with a move back to AS Roma.
The Poland goalkeeper who joined Serie A club Roma on loan last summer enjoyed a fine campaign with the Galliarossi and is keen to return there for another season at least. However, it is believed that Wenger still sees the 26 year old as integral to his future plans and with Ospina likely to leave this summer, some reports are claiming Szczesny could be drafted in to replace the Colombian. Despite the reports about his future, Szczesny has revealed he is not worried about where he will be playing next season.
“I’m pleased that the Coach made me play for 90 minutes [in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Netherlands],” he said.
“I tried to do my best and I’m focused on this, although I don’t know if it means that I’m the Coach’s first choice.
“Difficult pitch? I won’t look for excuses such as a muddy pitch or heavy legs. Surely it’s better to analyse a game that you’ve won, but we lost.
“Still, our morale remains high, and we haven’t forgotten that we lost against a very strong team, even if they haven’t qualified for European Championship.
“Will I play against Lithuania? I don’t know, but if the Coach picks me then I’ll try to do the best I can.
“Am I worrying about where I’ll play next season? Not at all.”
Szczesny is believed to have told Wenger he wants to return to Roma and both clubs are in negotiations with a view to another loan move but it remains to be seen if both clubs can reach an agreement.
