Manchester City are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to reports.
Incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is planning to carry out a major squad overhaul at the Etihad this summer. Top of the Spaniard’s plan is to overhaul the midfield and bring in players that would fit into his style.
Fresh from the signing of Germany’s Ilkay Gundogan, Guardiola has set his sight on Jack Wilshere. According to the Sun, Wilshere features high on Guardiola’s wish list.
The midfielder missed most of this season due to an injury but that hasn’t deterred the Etihad side.
The England international has two years left in his current deal at the Emirates and the club is yet to offer him a new contract which is giving City a glimpse of hope they can sign him.
Wilshere is an Arsenal fan through and through, the 24 year old graduated from the club’s academy at the age of 16.
Despite the signing of Granit Xhaka, it is expected that Wilshere will remain at the Emirates next season. City have a lot to do to convince Wenger to part company with the midfielder as the French man rates the midfielder highly.
Wilshere is currently in Roy Hodgson’s England squad where he is expected to play a key role at the Euros Championship later this summer.
