Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is on the verge of completing a loan move to Watford, according to the Daily Mail.
The 21 year old featured for the Gunners sparingly this season and is said to be considering a loan move away from the Emirates to gain regular playing time. It is believed that Wenger has high hopes on the defender and he sees the 21 year old who he shelled out £16m for in 2014 as an important part of the club’s future and is only prepared to let him leave on loan to aid his development.
Southampton were reportedly keen on the defender but Watford have now moved ahead of the Saints and are now in pole position to sign the centre-back.
The defender who recently helped England U21 side to triumph in the recent Toulon championship has stressed out the need to play regular football and he is very keen to get more game time next season.
When asked about his club future last week, Chambers said: “For me, I just want to play games, so, yeah, that’s it for me.
“But at the moment I am not thinking too much about next season, I just want to go and enjoy my summer. Then we’ll get back at it soon.”
The defender featured in just 12 league games for the Gunners this season starting just 2 of those games.
Watford are now prepared to offer him the opportunity to kick start his career and harness his talents.
