Arsenal are prepared to offer Hector Bellerin a new contract to fend off Barcelona’s interest, according to the Sun, via RedLondon.net.
The defender has been linked with a move back to the Camp Nou as a replacement for Dani Alves who is set to join Juventus this summer but Arsenal are determined to keep hold of the 21 year old and are prepared to offer him an improved contract.
Bellerin’s current deal expires in 2019 and the club is keen for him to sign a new long term deal which would increase his wages to £80,000 a week. It is believed that the club will hold talks with the player’s camp before this summer’s preseason with the hope that both parties can reach an agreement quickly.
Bellerin is keen to remain at the Emirates with the player rulling out a move away this summer.
Last month, the player said: “I say this every year, for me my home is in England.
“I have live in England for many years, I have my family there, I’m living with my girlfriend.
“I am very happy there, so I do not see anywhere else other than Arsenal.”
With the player keen to stay at the Emirates for a long time, it is expected he will sign a new contract at the club should he be offered a new one.
