Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Bundesliga midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.

The Armenia international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with the Emirates tipped as his likely destination.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are prepared to scupper Arsenal’s move for the attacking midfielder as the Old Trafford club have now made enquiries as regard signing the 27-year-old.

It is believed that BVB are prepared to let the midfielder leave for a fee of about £25m and the Old Trafford club are more than ready to meet Bundesliga giants asking price.

The midfielder was one of the best performers in Europe’s top leagues last season and with Mourinho preparing for a major overhaul at Old Trafford, he is keeping a close watch on the star man.

Tottenham and Juventus are also interested in the midfielder but the duo lag behind Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign the gifted playmaker.

However, Wenger isn’t expected to give up on his chase to sign Mkhitaryan due to rivalry, the French man has already identified the midfielder as his top target and is determined to get him over to the Emirates. Wenger also has an edge over Manchester United as Mkhitaryan revealed years ago that he dreams of playing at the Emirates. It is expected that should both clubs go head to head in the race to sign the playmaker, Mkhitaryan is more than likely to favour a move to the Emirates.

The midfielder scored 18 goals and made 20 assists in all competitions for BVB last season.
