Former Leicester City player Robbie Savage has urged Jamie Vardy to jump at the opportunity of moving to Arsenal.
The 29 year old is a subject of concrete interest from the Gunners but he is said to be mulling over a move to the Emirates as Leicester urges him to stay at the King Power stadium. However, Savage believes the player should move to Arsenal , saying there is no loyalty in football and he owes the Foxes nothing.
Arsenal activated the player’s £20m release clause last week and offered the player a four year deal worth around £100,000 a week. Arsenal’s offer has been countered by Leicester but Savage who featured for the Foxes at some point in his career believes Vardy should not miss the opportunity of moving to a big club like Arsenal.
“Jamie Vardy owes Leicester nothing. To be honest, I don’t know what more he can realistically achieve at the King Power. Leicester aren’t going to win the title again,” Savage said, as quoted by HITC sports.
“The signs are that Vardy is torn between joining Arsenal and staying at Leicester, but whatever he chooses to do, he must remember there is no loyalty in football any more.”
“Why insert that clause if you are not prepared to jump ship when a big club activates it? And why £20m? With a £5.1billion TV deal set to kick in, there was always going to be someone nibbling at the bait.”
Vardy was a key part of Leicester’s title winning side, scoring 24 league goals for the Foxes last season.
