According to reports making the round, the Guardian are reporting Arsenal are lining up a formal offer for £20m rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Arsenal are set to beat the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for the Armenian international.
Mkhitaryan has just one year remaining on his contract and Dortmund have confirmed that he has decided against signing a contract extension after negotiation broke down amid Arsenal transfer.
Chief executive Hanz-Joachim Watzke is quoted as saying by the Guardian:
“We have been negotiating with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months for him to extend his contract with us.
“Now we know that it is not extended, it was never our commitment that Mkhitaryan may leave us prematurely.
’We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer in all club bodies and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay in Dortmund next season.”
Mkhitaryan has been brilliant for Dortmund and would be a classy addition to the Arsenal team having scored 23 goals and 32 assists last season.
