Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta who is set to leave the club when his contract expires in a couple of weeks is on the verge of moving to league rivals Manchester City.
The midfielder who joined Arsenal from Everton in 2011 has already decided to end his playing career and is now set to go into management.
According ot respected Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via Footballfancast, the former Arsenal captain is likely to join Pep Guardiola as assistant manager at the Etihad. The pair are very close friends and have known each other from their youthful days and Guardiola is set to offer Arteta a route into management as the latter has already completed some of his coaching badges.
Arteta was an important part of the Gunners squad in the last few years and served as a leader both on and off the pitch but following injury stricken campaigns in the last couple of seasons, the midfielder has been allowed to pursue his career elsewhere. He is now set to take up a job as Guardiola’s assistant next year.
Arteta already had coaching spells with the Gunners under 13’s and Wales Under 16’s in the past and would use the experience to play a major role in City’s first team.
