Arsenal are set to suffer another set back in its search for a top striker this summer, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly made signing a centre forward his priority this summer but the French man is yet to be successful.

First, the club activated Jamie Vardy’s £20m release clause and offered the Foxes striker a four year deal worth £120,000 a week but the league Champions are doing their best to keep the striker and it is now believed that the 29 year olf is likely to snub a move to the Emirates and stay at Leicester City.

It was reported that Wenger would turn his attentions to PSG striker Edison Cavani should Vardy reject a move to Arsenal and the Gunners are set to be disappointed again.

According to Sky Italia via Talksport, Cavani has agreed to sign a big money contract at PSG this summer putting an end to speculations linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The French club has assured the player he would be given the chance to play in the central forward role due to the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavani’s new deal is believed to worth over £6m a year and £1.5m performance related bonuses.

The Uruguayan had been limited to a spot on the wing and has informed the club bosses that he would love to move to a club where he would be free to lead the line but the departure of Ibrahimovic has given the 29 year old that opportunity at the Parcs de Princes.

This will come as a huge blow to Arsenal in a summer where there is shortage of top strikers in the transfer window this summer, Wenger will now have to turn his attentions elsewhere should Vardy reject a move to the Emirates.
