Arsenal are reportedly hoping to sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool this summer, according to reports.
Wenger’s search for a striker is no longer a secret as the French man revealed last month that he is keen on a forward following a knee injury that ruled Danny Welbeck out until the end of the year at least.
The Gunners have made moves to bring in a top striker but hasn’t been successful yet. The club activated Jamie Vardy’s £20m release clause a fortnight ago but the player is weighing up his future and is yet to make a decision. Wenger has now turned his attention to Liverpool striker Daniel sturridge.
According to the Express via RedLondon.net, Wenger is keen on a striker who has been tested in the Premier League and the club would now enter talks with Sturridge.
The striker has three years left in his contract at Anfield and the Merseyside club would definitely make it difficult for the player to move to the Emirates bearing in mind the Luis suarez’ saga in 2013.
The report claims Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is willing to sell the striker this summer and would demand a transfer fee in the region of £50m. But Wenger isn’t prepared to pay more than £28.5m for the 26 year old striker and the Gunners’ boss is confident he can reach an agreement with Liverpool for that fee.
Despite Sturridge’s poor injury records, he is one of the best strikers in the league and should he manage to stay fit, he will be a real asset for any club.
