Arsenal are looking to open talks with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Wenger is seriously interested in signing a centre forward this summer and has made several attempts to sign one but is yet to be successful.
The need to sign a top striker was evident last season as the team struggled to kill off its opponents and the injury to Dani Welbeck has made it imperative to sign a striker.
And now according to the Sun via RedLondon.net, Arsenal are set to be the first club to table an official bid for Aubameyang this summer. The striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League and his club has strongly and even publicly revealed he is going nowhere but Arsenal would test their resolve in the coming days with an official offer.
It is believed that a minimum bid of at least £60m is required to lure the striker away from the Signal Iduna Park. Although the player has insisted he is very happy at BVB but he is expected to make a decision on his future should the Gunners manage to agree a fee with his club.
Manchester City are also keen on the striker but the Etihad club are yet to make an official bid for the Gabonese international.
Aubameyang scored 37 goals in all competitions last season, helping his side to finish second place on the Bundesliga table.
