Wenger is reportedly very keen on strengthening his squad this summer and is looking to sign a number of quality players. The French man recently completed the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for £33m and has also activated the £20m release clause of Jamie Vardy but the French manager is not stopping there as he is prepared to shake the transfer market this summer.
According to Kickoff.co.uk, Arsenal now seem to have “entered the race” for talented 24-year-old Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho and are “prepared to offer Aaron Ramsey as a bait in any deal.”
This is shocking as well as ridiculous because despite the fact that Coutinho is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League, he thrives on the left side of the midfield or through the middle which are positions that the Gunners are well stocked with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Having said that, it is not to say Coutinho will not improve the squad but Ramsey has often be deployed on the right wing and it is difficult to see Coutinho playing on the right side for Arsenal.
Wenger is very keen on strengthening his right wing and has been linked with players like Mkhitaryan and Mahrez.
It remains to be seen if the Coutinho to Arsenal rumour will gather pace in the coming weeks but one thing is certain, Liverpool will try to hold on to their playmaker while we could be better off moving to other targets.
