According to reports making the round, Arsenal are set to unveil their second signing of the summer as his brother Allwell Nwakali confirmed his client will not travel to London to sign his professional contract until after the Nigeria Under-20 AFCON game against Sudan on July 22.
He told African Football: “Kelechi is supposed to sign this month after he clocked 18, but due to the national assignment he won’t be leaving immediately.
“As soon as they are through with the games against Sudan, he will move but if the Nigeria Under-20 coach can give him between two to three weeks, he will travel.”
Kelechi was brilliant for Nigeria last November in the FIFA world Cup guiding his country in winning the Cup.
His brother Allwell confirmed his brother will be given the shirt number 25 which was been worn by Ex-gunner Kanu Nwankwo.
Also Academy CEO Emeka Amajiriaku told AllNigeriaSoccer: “Arsenal have informed us that Kelechi has been handed the number 25 jersey.
“He was trying to get that number because of Kanu Nwankwo, so he’s happy they gave it to him.”
