Arsenal have taken a step forward as regards signing Inter Milan centre back Jeison Murillo, according to reports.
Wenger is reportedly very keen on a centre half as he looks to bolster his defensive line by bringing in a new partner for Koscielny. It appears the French manager has now decided to pursue a move for the Inter Milan stopper.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners have contacted Murillo’s agent concerning a summer move.
The report claim Wenger has identified the Colombian international, who was impressive for Roberto Mancini’s men last season, as a possible addition to his squad.
It is believed Inter Milan are willing to sell the defender for a fee of €25m as the Italian club currently have a £39m deficit to meet Financial fair play rules.
Bayern Munich and Zenith St Petersburg are keeping tabs on the defender and Wenger is keen to wrap up a deal for the defender before the duo make their move.
The centre back is reportedly open to a move away from Inter as he earlier remained coy about his future with the Italian club claiming his future is an “unknown quantity”.
“My future? It is always an unknown quantity and we’ll have to see what happens,” Murillo told La Stampa , as quoted by Ibtimes.
“Having said that, I am very happy here. Roberto Mancini talks to us when necessary, has his ideas and is to be respected.”
