Arsenal are ready to beat Chelsea to the services of Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
The Gunners was linked with the Juventus striker in the early days of the summer break but that changed after Wenger decided to activate Jamie vardy’s release clause. With Vardy now set to snub a move to the Emirates in preference of staying at the King Power Stadium, Wenger has been forced to turn to other targets.
Since Arsenal turned its attention to Vardy, Chelsea have reportedly moved into pole position to sign Morata but according to respected Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via FootballFancast, Arsenal are back in the race to sign Morata and Wenger is now prepared to gazump Chelsea in the race to sign the striker.
Real Madrid are expected to activate the buy back clause in the contract that took the player to Juventus and sell him to the highest bidder and Di Marzio claims the Gunners are prepared to do whatever it takes.
It is believed any club who wants to sign the striker should be prepared to cough out as much as £40m and that shouldn’t be a problem for either of the Premier League clubs and it could go down to the player’s choice.
Morata is currently the first choice striker for Spain at the ongoing Euro 2016 and already has three goals to his name. The striker is regarded as one of the best strikers in his generation and will definitely be a massive signing for any club as he has the potential to develop into a world class striker.
