Arsene Wenger has revealed his plans for the current transfer window claiming he would only sign a maximum of three players this summer.
The Gunners boss has been linked with a number of targets to strengthen different positions in the squad and he has now revealed he would only make minor changes to the squad as it is important to keep the squad stable before the start of the new season.
The Gunners have already secured the signing of Granit Xhaka for £33m and it will be goodnews to the Gooners as the boss has revealed he isn’t stopping there.
One key position expected to be strengthened is the striker’s department. The club has already made a move to sign Leicester City’s striker Jamie Vardy but the Foxes man has reportedly snubbed a move to the Emirates but that wouldn’t stop Wenger from signing a striker as the French man is said to be exploring other targets. When asked if he was planning to overhaul the squad, Wenger said:
“We’ve already bought one player – Granit Xhaka – from Monchengladbach, because we’ve lost three players. We’ve lost [Mikel] Arteta, we’ve lost [Tomas] Rosicky and [Mathieu] Flamini,” he told Tencent Sports, as quoted by Goal.
“So we’ve bought one midfielder and we’re still in the market to buy one or two more players.
“But it is not easy. It is not just buying. We also have to keep a good balance. If you buy too many players you destabilise your team. So three is the maximum.”
