According to Africanfootbll.com is reporting Arsenal will veto Nigerian international Alex Iwobi from participating in the Olympics for his country.
The 20-year-old forward has been named in the 35 man list on Friday and have previously expressed his desire to play in the competition which begins on August 3.
Africanfootball.com reports a source close to the Arsenal forward claims
“Arsenal have taken a decision on Alex, he will not be going to the Olympics with Nigeria.
“The boy himself is very disappointed because he wanted to be in Rio but Arsenal have the final say on this matter because the competition is not on the FIFA calendar.
“They want him to start the new season with them.”
The report further states the decision was based on the sensational forward missing the start of Premier League season which begins on August 13 with Arsenal first fixture against Liverpool and Leicester City on the following weekend.
