Arsenal Legend Paul Merson has urged the club to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.
Merson believes the signing of Lukaku will give the club the much needed impetus upfront, via Ibtimes.
Arsenal were hoping to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City but the Foxes man is reportedly considering staying at the King Power stadium forcing Wenger to turn to other targets.
It is believed that one of Wenger’s new target is Romelu Lukaku and Merson who played as a striker for Arsenal believes it’s a welcome development.
The ex striker already believes Vardy won’t be signing for Arsenal this summer.
“If Arsenal come calling for you, and you don’t come in the first 24 hours then you aren’t signing. I mean, you are talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world. Everybody wants to play for Arsenal,” Merson said
The ex-Gunner also had words of praise for Lukaku and believes it will be a good addition to Wenger’s current squad.
“I think he’s a bit different, a bit stronger up front which would help Arsenal,” he added. “I can see why Chelsea let him go; he was one of them that needed the ball over the top. But he was a young kid and I think he’s learnt his trade now. It just depends how much he is.”
Lukaku scored 18 league goals for Everton last season and has talked up the possibility of moving to a club playing in the Champions League.
