Manchester United have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to a report in the Football Talk.
The defender has been linked with a move to the Emirates with the Greek international said to be one of Wenger’s top target this summer. He has attracted a lot of interests from the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United said to be interested in the 25-year-old as well.
Manchester United have now moved ahead of its rivals in the race to sign the defender as Italian Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claiming the Red Devils have made the first move.
The Journalist claimed Roma rejected a £28m($37.58m) bid from Man Utd for the defender’s services.
The Italian club are desperate to hold on to the defender and are looking to tie the player to a new contract.
Wenger is said to be keen on strengthening his defense and has drawn up a shortlist of top defender he will attempt to bring to the Emirates this summer.
Arsenal were close to signing Manolas two summers ago but Roma swooped ahead of us to sign the centre back. It remains to be seen if Wenger would try to hijack United’s move for the defender this summer.
