Atletico Madrid have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
The Gunners have reportedly been monitoring the striker with reports claiming Wenger would make a move to sign the striker should BVB soften their stand and decide to sell the striker.
The Gunners are considered as one of the most serious contenders for Aubameyang’s signature and Aubameyang Father Pierre-Francois has now revealed Atletico Madrid are also in the race to sign his son.
However, the father didn’t fail to stress that his son is happy at the Signal Iduna Park.
“Interest from Atletico? Yes, and many other teams…” he told Spanish newspaper AS, as quoted by the Express.
“He’s contracted with Borussia for four more years so we mustn’t speak about it, but of course [teams] are watching him for what he did last season.”
Dortmund on their part are not interested in selling the striker and will do everything possible to keep him away from interested clubs.
However, it won’t be easy for the German club as Manchester City are also interested in the striker’s services and Pep Guardiola along with Arsene Wenger and Diego Simeone are prepared to push for the striker this summer. It could end up being one of the toughest transfer battles in recent seasons.
