Premier League striker Romelu Lukaku wants to complete a move to Arsenal this summer, according to a report in the Sport Review.
The 23 year old striker is considering leaving Everton and has claimed he wants to move to a top club challenging for titles. Wenger is being linked with a move to sign the striker and has reportedly held talks with the player’s representatives.
Everton are adamant they won’t sell their star striker and would demand a hefty fee should they be forced to sell him. It is believed the Merseyside club will demand a fee up north of £50m and Italian Journalist Emanuele Giulianielli believes that could scupper the deal.
The Journalist via his twitter handle claims both Lukaku and Arsenal want a move to happen this summer but the Gunners are not willing to pay up to £50m for his services. The report added that Arsenal could end their pursuit of Lukaku because of the price tag despite the player keen on a move to the Emirates.
“Arsenal aren’t too optimistic after hearing they’d have to pay £50m for Lukaku to Everton.”
“Informal contact was made yesterday between Arsenal and Everton but in my opinion the deal won’t progress despite Lukaku wanting the move.”
Wenger is keen on a striker this summer but the French manager doesn’t want to pay over the odds.
