Arsenal could suffer disappointment in its pursuit of a striker again, according to reports.
The Gunners are in need of a top striker and Wenger is actively working to sign one. The club recently failed to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City and could miss out on another target again according to reports circulating this morning.
Wenger has reportedly turned his attention to Olympic Marseille striker Alexandre Lacazette and has entered into talks with the player’s representative. However, there is a potential stumbling block to the move as Marseille are asking for a £40m transfer fee for the striker’s services. According to the Telegraph via HITC Sport, Arsene Wenger is “highly unlikely” to meet Marseille’s demand.
Lacazette is highly rated by the French club and they are determined to get a hefty fee from the sale of their star striker.
It is claimed that Marseille has already rejected two bids of £31m and £32m from West Ham for the striker with the French club insisting their valuation must be met.
Wenger is keen on a striker and the French manager has always stated he is prepared to sign top players for the right price.
It is believed Wenger would drop his interest in Lacazette if Marseille are not be prepared to reduce their asking price.
