Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley will spend the 2016/2017 season on loan at League one side Oxford United, according to the Daily Star.

The midfielder revealed last season he would be keen on a move to a club in the lower league on loan this summer after being told by Wenger that he isn’t physically ready for the Premier League.

The playmaker is now set for a stint at league one side Oxford and he will be hoping the move aid his development.

“I’m glad to have the opportunity here,” Crowley talked about his excitement on joining Oxford on loan.

“It’s obviously a club that is going places and did really well last season so I’m looking forward to settling in, working hard in pre-season and being part of a successful side again this time around.”

Oxford boss Micheal Appleton is delighted to have secured Crowley’s services and the manager has also revealed he would try to sign more Arsenal youngsters. Appleton claims Arsenal would send more players for them to take a look at with a view of the youngsters spending the season at the League one club.

He told the Witney Gazette: “I’d like to think they’d be aware of what we’ve been doing over the last 16 months.

“Hopefully they are happy sending players to us as part of their development pathway of trying to break into their first team.

“There are a couple more players who will come and train with us at the back end of July, although there’s no guarantee they will stay with us.

“They will come for a week or so to have a look at us and we’ll have a look at them.”
