Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes Arsenal new signing could help the club win the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners recently completed the signing of Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee of about £33m, making him Wenger’s first summer signing.
Big things are expected from the midfielder next season following his impressive performances for Switzerland in the Euro 2016 competition and Szczesny believes the midfielder along with a couple of new signings would make Arsenal successful next season.
Szczesny also had word of praises for last season’s champions Leicester City.
“That’s what we love about the Premier League, the competitiveness, so we can’t complain about it,” the 26-year-old told reporters, as quoted by Squawka.
“Leicester fully deserved to win the title in what was an amazing story.
“Maybe it was a missed opportunity for Arsenal but they had a good go and came close. It was disappointing for me to see as a fan, but with the new signing [Granit] Xhaka and possibly one or two more, we can compete again.
“People have been saying for 20-odd years that our place in the top four is under threat, and we keep finishing there. But I don’t think that should be the goal for Arsenal football club. We should be aiming to win titles and I see a big opportunity next season.”
The goalkeeper’s Arsenal future is still up in the air as AS Roma are yet to agree a fee with Arsenal for the goalkeeper.
