Arsenal are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, according to a report in the Sport Review.

Wenger wants to sign a centre-back this summer and is determined to sign a quality one to partner Laurent Koscielny next season. The club has been linked with the likes of Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter’s Jeison Murillo but it appears we have now turned our attention to BVB’s Neven Subotic.

Subotic is keen on a move away from the Signal Iduna Park after losing his first team spot last season. The defender became a peripheral part of Thomas Tuchel’s plan and he is now eager to leave the club in search of regular first team football.

According to Italian Journalist, Emanuele Giulianelli, Arsenal have indicated it’s interest in Subotic. The Italian Journalist revealed via his twitter handle that Arsenal contacted BVB over signing the defender last week.

He tweeted: “Arsenal officials got in touch with Borussia Dortmund last week over Subotic.”

Arsenal’s interest in the defender is coming few days after the player revealed he will leave BVB this summer.

Subotic said: “I am in the best age for a football player and I want to use my time to improve myself and my team every day. And I want to have the feeling I am needed and I can give everything for my club. That is what I am thinking about.

“I do not want to earn my money on the bench, but to be a active part of the history like I was until last year. I hope you can understand that.

However, Wenger would wait until after the end of the Euro 2016 before stepping up his interest in the defender or any other player he wishes to make his third summer signing.
