Arsenal are very keen on Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata but are unwilling to meet the Spanish giants £57m asking price, according to Standard Sports.
Wenger have been keeping tabs on Alvaro Morata since last season.
The striker recently completed a move back to Madrid from Juventus and it is believed the Spanish club wants to keep the striker. Madrid’s president Fiorentino Perez is said to be a big fan of Morata and was the one who inserted the £23m recall clause in the player’s contract. Now that the player is back at the Bernabeu, Morata is reportedly seeking assurances from Madrid he will be given playing time next seaon and it is claimed he would push for an exit should Madrid be unable to give him assurances.
Arsenal are said to be waiting on the wings to sign the striker and should Morata push for an exit, Madrid would demand for a fee of £57m. That huge fee is reportedly putting Wenger off as the French manager is not prepared to pay that much to sign Morata.
Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Morata but are also unwilling to meet the £57m valuation.
Should Madrid soften their stand and lower their asking price, Wenger would move to beat the West London club to Morata’s services.
The report added that Wenger has also asked to be kept informed on Alexandre Lacazette’s situation at Lyon and could make a move for the French striker after holding talks with the player’s representative in France.
