Barcelona are interested in signing Arsenal target Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports.
Rodriguez has informed Wolfsburg that he wants to leave this summer and the German club are open to the idea of selling the 23 year old defender, this was confirmed by the club last month.
“Rici has stated that his future is not with us,” Wolfsburg Sporting director Klaus Allofs told Blick .
“But we can live with this decision.”
Wenger is reportedly interested in signing the Swiss fullback and he is said to have opened talks with Wolfsburg over signing the defender. However, he is now going to face competition for the defender’s signature as Catalan giants Barcelona are interested in joining the race to sign the defender.
According to the Daily Mail via the Daily Star, Barcelona will make a move for Rodriguez should they fail to sign Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.
Rodriguez had a £21m release clause which expired at the end of June and reports in Switzerland claims Arsenal and Real Madrid are looking to negotiate a lower fee for the defender. Barcelona will continue to keep tabs on the defender who impressed for Switzerland in the Euro 2016 competition before being knocked out by Portugal in the round of 16.
