Arsenal are interested in signing Germany defender Jonas Hector, according to reports.
The Gunners are being linked with defensive reinforcements and have been linked with a number of left backs across Europe. The latest now being linked with a move to the Emirates is FC Koln defender Hector.
According to Kick Off, Arsenal are weighing up a summer bid for the defender. The 26-year-old is currently with the German national team on international duty and has impressed for Joachim Low’s men.
The defender has been linked with a move to Tottenham and Liverpool but it appears Arsenal would now join the race to sign the defender.
The player still has a contract at Koln until 2018 but he is expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer and it is believed a bid of £17m will be enough to sign the defender.
Should Wenger step up his interest in Hector, he is likely to take the place of Kieran Gibbs who is being linked with a move away from the club. Hector would have to compete with Monreal for a spot in the Gunners starting xi.
Hector was one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga last season making 34 appearances for Koln in all competitions last term.
Arsenal have also been linked with Wolfsburg left back Ricardo Rodriguez this summer.
