Arsene Wenger has stepped up his attempts to sign a striker, according to a report in Goal.
The French tactician is desperate to improve his striking options ahead of next season and has earmarked signing a striker this summer as his priority.
The club has been linked with almost half a dozen of strikers across Europe but it is believed Wenger’s priority targets are Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Olympic Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.
The French man made attempt to sign Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy but the 29-year-old Leicester man turned down a move to the Emirates which has left Wenger very disappointed. He has now turned his attentions to Morata and Lacazette and it is believed the Gunners are already in talks to sign either of the duo.
Olivier Giroud was expected to be the club’s first choice striker at the beginning of next season but due to France run to the final, Giroud may get an extended break which could see him miss the opening games of the season and with the absense of Danny Welbeck due to injury, Wenger is now making efforts to sign a striker before the club travels to the United states for its preseason tour later this month.
Arsenal opens its 2016/2017 Premier League campaign against Liverpool on 14 August.
