Arsenal have reportedly made a move to sign Borussia Dortmund Centre back Neven Subotic.
Wenger wants to sign a centre back this summer and is determined to sign a quality one to partner Laurent Koscielny next season. The club has been linked with the likes of Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter’s Jeison Murillo but it appears we have now turned our attention to BVB’s Neven Subotic.
According to the Daily Express, Subotic has been given permission to talk to interested clubs as BVB attempt to offload the defender who isn’t part of coach Thomas Tuchel’s plan.
Liverpool and Middlesbrough have been monitoring the defender for weeks but it appears Arsenal have jumped ahead of the duo in the race to sign the defender.
Arsenal have reportedly tabled a £12m bid for Subotic’s services. The offer is reportedly £8m more than BVB’s asking price.
Wenger is keen on signing a centre back who would go into the starting xi straight away and Subotic has enough quality to go straight into the team but it is unknown why Wenger who has a knack of getting quality players at bargain prices would go a whooping £8m above BVB’s asking price.
Subotic was a key member of a Dortmund side that was superb under Jurgen Klopp and would definitely be a quality addition to the club should he move to the Emirates.
