Everton have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports.
The Sengelase defender is reportedly one of Wenger’s priority target this summer. Arsenal have made signing a centre back this summer a priority and it is believed Wenger is keeping close tabs on Koulibaly.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton have now joined the race to sign Koulibaly and have contacted Napoli about the possibility of signing the 25 year old.
It is believed Everton are prepared to offer more than the Gunners are willing to offer in a bid to tempt Napoli to sell the player to them.
Should City complete the signing of Everton’s John Stones, Ronald Koeman is prepared to throw huge money into a deal to sign Koulibaly.
Koulibaly’s future at Napoli has been subject of speculation in recent weeks, the defender has failed to reach an agreement with Napoli on a new deal and could seek a move away from the Serie A club.
However the Serie A club are prepared to play hard ball and won’t let the defender leave easily, Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis said in an interview with journalists.
“I have never once argued with Koulibaly about his future.”
“He will remain with us for another three years.
“If he wants to renew his contract with us for another five years then we will meet but the deal must satisfy both parties, because these relationships are never one-sided.”
