Arsenal are keeping close tabs on AS Roma striker Kostas Manolas, according to reports.
Wenger is reportedly interested in signing the 24 year old this summer as he looks to strengthen his defense ahead of next season. Wenger is believed to be a fan of Manolas but the French man has been told by Roma that they are not prepared to sell the 24 year old defender.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport via the Express, Arsenal are still very interested in Manolas and have been alerted by the defender’s contract situation at the Italian club.
Roma were believed to have offered the defender a new deal worth £2.3m per year and would see the player committed to the club until 2020 but the player’s agent, Iannis Evangelopoulos, has revealed that both parties have failed to reach an agreement.
“It’s true, I can confirm we have not agreed a contract renewal with Roma,” he said .
“Could he reach it over the next few weeks? I doubt we will.”
It is believed Arsenal would attempt to take advantage of the situation to lure the defender to the Emirates this summer.
Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on the defender, the duo along with Arsenal will be keeping close tabs on the defender in the next few weeks.
