Sunderland are weighing up a move for Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports.
The French defender is expected to secure a move away from the Emirates this summer after spending the final six months of last season on loan at FC Bordeaux. According to HITC Sport, Sunderland are interested in signing a right back this summer and are considering making a move for the out of favour Arsenal man. The report claims the Black cats have discussed signing Debuchy from Arsenal, although, he is not their first choice option. It is believed PSG’s right back Youssouf Sabaly is favourite to join the Black cats ahead of Debuchy.
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sell Debuchy this summer after the player fell out with Arsene Wenger. The French international still has three years left in his contract with the club but he no longer features in Wenger’s plans for the future.
Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle in 2014 for a fee of about £12m, he initially impressed in his early days at the Emirates but a combination of injuries and the superb form of Hector Bellerin cost him his place in the Gunners’ starting xi.
West Ham and Lyon have already been linked with the defender this summer.
