According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Bolton defender Rob Holding.
The 20-year-old underwent medicals on Monday evening with a deal expected to be completed this week once personal terms are agreed.
Wenger has been linked with a number of top talents in England as the French man attempts to ensure the club’s future is secured. It is believed that Holding is top of Wenger’s wish list and the manager has now moved closer to signing the defender.
The Gunners had an initial bid of £750,000 rejected for the defender but it seems the club has now agreed an improved offer of £1.5m for the defender.
Holding was one of the few impressive players in a disappointing Bolton side, his impressive performances earned him the club’s players player of the year award and Wenger thinks the defender has what it takes to succeed at the highest level of English football.
Tottenham and Everton were also interested in the defender but the 21 year old had already decided he is interested in moving to Arsenal.
The defender will become Arsenal’s third summer signing following the club’s capture of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and J1 striker Takuma Asano.
