Chelsea are preparing to rival Arsenal for the services of Leicester City Winger Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
Mahrez, who was the PFA player of the year last term has reportedly turned down a new contract at Leicester City and informed the club he wants to secure a move away from the King Power Stadium.
Arsenal have been credited with interest in the winger and it is believed Wenger would renew his interest in the playmaker after receiving the news that the player wants to change club. However, the French man is set to face competition as Chelsea are now rumored to have entered the race to sign the winger.
According to the Metro, Chelsea are planning a move to sign Mahrez this summer after securing the services of Kante, another Leicester City star of last season.
The report claims the new Chelsea boss is a big fan of Mahrez and is keen to add him to his squad at Stamford bridge.
Wenger who is also a fan of the winger would now have to convince the player of the year to snub a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of a switch to the Emirates. Should Wenger be successful in doing so, Mahrez would be a quality addition to the squad and would go a long way in helping us build on last season’s second place finish.
