Arsenal are prepared to table an improved bid for Bolton’s centre back Rob Holding, according to reports.
The Gunners are believed to be seriously interested in signing the defender from Bolton as Wenger plans to lure some of the best British talents to Arsenal.
The club had two bids rejected for the defender earlier in the summer with the League one club insisting they are under no pressure to sell the defender following their relegation from the championship.
According to the Sun via the Squawka, Arsenal are now set to return with an improved offer worth up to £2.5m ($3.27M). Arsenal were hoping to sign the defender for a cheaper fee after learning the 20-year-old has one year left in his contract but Bolton are adamant they won’t let their star player leave on a cheap.
The defender made 26 appearances for the Trotters last season and is highly rated by the league one club. His impressive performances last term led to him scooping the club’s player of the year award in May.
Tottenham are believed to be interested in the defender but it appears Holding has already set his heart on a move to the Emirates. It now depends on both clubs to find a common ground and reach an agreement as regards signing the defender.
