Serie A giants Napoli have revealed they are not interested in selling their star striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates and it was reported that the club have made a £42m + Olivier Giroud for Higuain’s services but that bid is likely to be turned down by Napoli.
A spokesman in the club has revealed that Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis does not want to sell the striker and the player hasn’t asked to be sold either.
Speaking in an interview with Journalist in Italy, the club’s head of communications Nicola Lombardo reiterated the club’s desire to keep the striker.
“Gonzalo never said he wanted to leave,” said Lombardo, as quoted by Standard Sport.
“Juve have never asked for him and [President] Aurelio De Laurentiis does not want to sell him.
“We are talking about rumours that are fuelled by the press, who write story upon story. But he will be here in Dimaro to start pre-season on July 25.”
Juventus are also interested in the striker and it is claimed the Serie A giants have agreed personal terms with the players.
Higuain scored 36 league goals in 35 games for Napoli last season and has proven year after year that he is the kind of striker needed at the Emirates.
