Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Leicester City star, Riyad Mahrez but goal.com claims Mahrez has agreed a deal to join Arsenal this summer, according to reports.
The PFA player of the year is being linked with a move away from Leicester City. He has reportedly turned down a contract extension at the King Power stadium, informing the club he wants a new challenge.
According to France Football via the Daily Star, Manchester City are keeping tabs on the PFA player of the year.
The report claims City are eyeing Mahrez as an alternative to Leroy Sane.
City are finding it difficult to complete a move for the Schalke winger and would turn to Mahrez should a deal for the German continue to prove difficult to complete.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be very keen on the Algeria international and City’s interest in the midfielder would come as a big blow to the French boss.
Leicester are determined to keep hold of their star player but could be forced to sell should the player push for a move. It is believed interested clubs would have to stump up more than £45m if they are to have any chance to sign the midfielder.
Mahrez proved he is one of the best players in the league last season and it would be wise for Wenger to move quickly for the midfielder before City’s interest grows.
