Arsenal are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to reports. The Gunners are reportedly keeping tabs on the midfielder as Wenger attempts to strengthen his midfield.
However, there is one problem. Newcastle have placed a whopping £35m valuation on the midfielder following his impressive performance at the Euro 2016 competition.
According to Talksport via Football Fancast, Arsene Wenger has been put off by Newcastle’s price tag and would pull out of the race to sign the midfielder should the Championship side not reduce their valuation.
It is believed Wenger is only prepared to pay as much as £20m, £15m short of Newcastle’s valuation.
Newcastle want Sissoko to stay at the club and help them fight their way back to the Premier League but the midfielder has publicly revealed he wants to leave the club and also declared his desire to remain in England.
He said: “My priority is to stay in England even if I’m not against going to search for a new challenge elsewhere.
“I particularly want to play with big players and in top-level matches.”
Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested in the midfielder who scored only one league goal last season.
With Arsenal already having enough personnel in the central midfield position where Sissoko operates, it is unlikely Wenger would pay £35m for another midfielder.
