Olympic Lyon are reluctant to sell Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.
The Gunners are heavily linked with the striker and reports claim Wenger is prepared to spend as much as £40m to bring the player to the Emirates.
It appears Wenger now has a fight on his hand as he would have to convince Lyon to sell their prized asset. Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has dismissed reports linking the striker to the Emirates, claiming the 25 year old would be going nowhere this summer.
When questioned about Lacazette’s future, Genesio said:
“Last week, I gave Alex a little heat because he did two or three strange things in training.
“He responded to me in the best way (by scoring) even if he could have scored twice, because in the first half he also had a chance with his head.
“It is good for his confidence. He was also impressive in build up. Whether that was going forward or during his hard work when the team did not have the ball.
“It is important for him and for the group. I do not think he is at all affected by this period and the noises around him.
“In any case, he will stay at Lyon.”
Lacazette scored 21 goals for Lyon last summer and is in demand. However, the manager’s comments could be a way to get the highest fee possible for the striker.
