Leicester City’s boss Claudio Ranieri has confirmed Arsenal are interested in signing Riyad Mahrez this summer but has made it clear he is not ready to let go of his star winger.
Ranieri admitted the rumours are becoming unwanted distraction for his star winger. However, Mahrez has rejected a new deal with the Foxes amid he is keen on leaving the King Power Stadium this summer.
“Maybe Riyad is distracted a bit by all of these rumours and speculation,” Ranieri said
“But that is also an experience for my players. It is important that he understands that he should stay with us.
“He has to improve his fitness and play for the team as well last season.”
However, Arsene Wenger was spotted alongside club coach Steve Bould at Leicester City’s preseason game against Leicester City where they lost 4-0. Wenger’s presence fuel Mahrez to Arsenal rumour deal could happen soon.
Express Sport understands Arsenal are prepared to pay £37million to snatch the 25-year-old away from the Premier League champions.
Mahrez guided the Foxes in winning the premier league scoring 17 goals and added 11 assists.
