Despite completing Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding Arsene Wenger have revealed he is still in the market to sign a forward and also a defender to fill up for Injured Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move in signing German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette.
Wenger admitted Mertesacker and Welbeck will be out till the end of 2016 and is keen on finding a suitable replacement for them.
During a press conference on Saturday, Wenger admitted he is definitely going to bolster his back line but he refused to give names of the players he will be signing.
“Yes I do (expect to sign a defender before the season star),” the manager said as quoted by theArsenal website. “We are still on the market for players. [Be it] at the front or at the back − we are on the market. Unfortunately, we are not alone.”
