The veteran defender is set to miss the start of next season due to an injury and with Gabriel as well as Koscielny also ruled out of the club’s opener against Liverpool, Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in an experienced defender.
Valencia’s Mustafi is believed to be keen on a move away from the club and the Spanish club are willing to sell the player.
According to the Daily Express, Arsenal have asked Valencia about Mustafi.
The player has a £42m release clause in his contract but Squawka claims Valencia are prepared to let him leave for €25m.
Mustafi was a member of the German side that was eliminated at the Euro 2016 Semi final stage and was impressive for Joachim Low’s men.
Valencia are looking to balance their books and are prepared to entertain offers for the defender despite being one of their best players.
Mustafi is known to the Premier League, the defender spent three years with Everton before moving to Sampdoria in 2012. He failed to make a single league appearance for the Toffees but he has developed into a quality defender since leaving the Goodison Park.
