Arsenal have received a massive boost in its pursuit of Olympic Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, according to a report in the Daily Star.
The club have been linked with the French striker all summer and it is said that he is top of Wenger’s wish list.
Arsenal have already tabled a £29.5m bid for the forward which was rejected and are now preparing an improved bid of £35m.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has been talking tough, claiming the striker would not be sold this summer at any price, but the Gunners have received a huge boost as Lyon manager Bruno Genesio for the first time this summer has admitted the player could leave the club before transfer deadline.
He told RTL: “He can leave if Lyon want him to. There are some offers that you cannot refuse.
“My desire as manager is that the best players stay and Lacazette is very important for the team.
“I have been assured by my president that we will keep the player. You never know what could happen right up until the 31st August.”
Lacazette has consistently impressed for Lyon in the last couple of seasons, scoring 21 league goals for the club last term. He is expected to cost about £40m.
